Chaga Gamage

Science Tutor, Southernferns Campus

Chaga is a Biomedical Science student at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, with a strong academic foundation in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. He combines genuine subject mastery with an approachable, patient teaching style, helping students move from rote memorisation to real understanding of how science works.

Beyond the sciences, Chaga is an English News Anchor and presenter at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC). That communication background shapes his lessons: he breaks down complex topics into clear, memorable steps and keeps students engaged throughout every session. He works closely with each student's specific syllabus, whether NCEA, Cambridge, or junior school science.

Teaching approach

Every student starts with a quick diagnostic so sessions target real gaps rather than covering ground already mastered. Lessons blend concept teaching, worked examples, and timed past paper practice, with honest feedback on exam technique so students walk into the exam room prepared and confident.

What students get

A personalised learning plan built around your syllabus and target grade
One-on-one or small group sessions, scheduled around school
Real past paper practice with detailed, actionable feedback
Clear explanations of difficult Biology, Chemistry, and Physics concepts
Ongoing homework and assessment support between sessions

Science tuition questions, answered

Everything parents and students commonly ask before enrolling. If your question is not here, send us a message below.

What subjects does Chaga teach?

Chaga teaches Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, supported by the Mathematics needed for science success. Lessons span cell biology, genetics, ecology, atomic structure, chemical reactions, mechanics, electricity, waves, and more, matched to each student's syllabus and level.

Are classes online or in-person?

All classes run online via Zoom, so students can join from anywhere in Sri Lanka. You only need an internet connection and a device. Sessions are interactive, with screen sharing, worked examples, and live problem solving.

What is the difference between individual and group sessions?

Individual sessions are one-on-one, fully focused on a single student's pace, gaps, and goals, ideal for intensive exam preparation. Small group sessions bring a few students together for peer interaction and discussion at a more cost-effective rate. We help you pick the right format during your free consultation.

What exam boards do you support?

We support New Zealand NCEA Level 1 Science, Cambridge O Level, and Cambridge IGCSE Science, plus general Junior Science for Year 7 to 10. Lessons are aligned to the specific board and paper structure your student is sitting.

How do I know which programme is right for my child?

Book a free consultation and we will talk through your child's year level, school curriculum, and goals. If they are in Year 7 to 10, Junior Science is usually the fit. For senior students, we match them to NCEA Level 1 or the Cambridge O Level / IGCSE pathway their school follows.

How are sessions scheduled?

Sessions are flexible, with weekday and weekend time slots available. We arrange a regular weekly time around your school timetable, and slots can be adjusted ahead of exams when more intensive support is helpful.

What age group is Junior Science for?

Junior Science is designed for Year 7 to 10 students. It builds core understanding across life, earth, and physical science in a concept-first, confidence-building way, preparing students well before they begin senior-level NCEA or Cambridge study.

How do I get started?

Use the enquiry button on any course card, or fill in the contact form below with your details and course of interest. We will reply within 24 hours to arrange a free consultation and confirm a schedule that works for you.
